Buddha at Belorusskaya (Andrei Korovin)

this morning in the Belorusskaya station
I caught sight of the Buddha

he was sitting on a bench
in the lotus position
like his statues in bronze
merging with the dull light of the Metro

I noticed him out of the corner of my eye
from inertia I ran on past
then from surprise I halted
looked round

hurrying to work
I see nothing

I turned round
and met his untroubled gaze
that said
yes this is me
and what kind of a thing have we here
the Buddha–I thought–in the Metro
I need to remember that
and rushed on further

in former times the gods appeared to men more frequently

  1. Miss Lou Says:

Perhaps in times past we took the time more to reach out to God. It seems now that we are always so busy we miss some of the remarkable things in the world around us 🙂

Great post, thanks for sharing 🙂
